Commendable Achievement of Dr. Ratnakar Chitte

Dr. Ratnakar Chitte, Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology along with five other co-contributors, has been granted a design patent (No. 444849-001) by the Government of India for their innovation titled “Smart Biopsy Needle Device.”

As cancer incidence continues to rise globally, the need for precise diagnostic and therapeutic tools has become increasingly urgent. In response, ongoing research in laboratory focuses on the screening of therapeutic enzymes from microorganisms, especially those found in the plant root rhizosphere and other natural sources. These microbial enzymes hold promise as potential therapeutic agents in cancer treatment and other medical applications.

The development of the “Smart Biopsy Needle Device” reflects the university’s commitment to innovation in biomedical technology and translational research.

This milestone achievement has been duly applauded by the Hon. Provost Dr. Daxesh Thakar and Dr. Manisha Vyas, Dean of the School of Science and Technology and the entire VVWU staff.
