The Department of Food and Nutrition, Faculty of Science, School of Science and Technology, Vanita Vishram Women’s University successfully inaugurated a Nutri Garden on 26th September, 2024, aiming to inspire students to embrace the concept of “Grow Your Own Food”. The event demonstrated how growing and consuming vegetables cultivated without any chemicals can play a significant role in enhancing health and nutrition.
The technical expertise for setting up the Nutri Garden was provided by Prof. Bhakti Panchal, Scientist in Horticulture from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari Agricultural University, who shared her insights on effective gardening techniques and the nutritional benefits of various crops.
The program was organized under the guidance of the Honourable Provost, Dr. Daxesh Thakar, and Dean and HoD, Dr. Manisha Vyas. Dr. Shilpee Agrawal contributed significantly to the event’s conceptualization and coordination, ensuring its success.
Students actively participated in the demonstration and expressed their enthusiasm for adopting healthier eating habits through Nutrition gardening. This initiative not only promotes self-sufficiency but also empowers students to make informed dietary choices that can combat nutritional deficiencies like anaemia.
