Report on National Conference Organized by the Dept. of English

One Day National Conference on “Reimagining English Language and Literature: Texts, Contexts, and Beyond” was organized by the Department of English, SOHASS, VVWU on 28/12/25. In the inaugural ceremony of the conference, Dr. Daxesh Thakar, Provost of Vanita Vishram Women’s University and Shri Manhar C. Desai, Secretary of Vanita Vishram, Surat, graced the event with their honorary presence. In this conference, Prof. Sachin Ketkar, Professor of M. S. University, Vadodara!and an ardent scholar, translator and researcher, delivered his keynote address on the topic “Reflections on English Studies in the Post-Global Era”. In addition, Prof. Sulabha Nataraj, and Prof. Mahesh Dey delivered the Plenary talks.

A total of 315 academicians, researchers and students from all over India participated in this conference and in total 118 research papers were presented on various topics of contemporary trends in English language and literature such as Digital Humanities, Ecocriticism, Translation Studies, Indian Literature in English, Postcolonial Literature, Indian Knowledge Systems, Artificial Intelligence in Literature, Psychology, Fashion, Film, Business Communication, etc.

On this occasion, Shri Kriplani T. Desai, President of the Board of Management of Vanita Vishram Women’s University and Chairman of Vanita Vishram, Surat and Pravin T. Vora, Vice President of the Board of Management of Vanita Vishram Women’s University and Vice Chairman of Vanita Vishram, Surat extended their best wishes to the organisers, guests, and all the participants. Moreover, the Registrar of Vanita Vishram Women’s University, Dr. R. D. Patel, offered his encouragement and support to the organisers, guests and all the participants.

The conference was successfully organized by the staff and students of the English Department under the guidance of Provost Dr. Daxesh Thakar, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Conference Convener, Dr. Aditya Farsole.
