Riwayat 2.0, a captivating fashion show that celebrated the beauty and diversity of Indian art through contemporary fashion was organized by The Department of Fashion Designing on 23rd January, 2025.
The event featured 190 talented students who created unique collections inspired by lesser-known traditional Indian art forms such as Kalighat painting, Pithora art, Rogan painting, and more. Each collection beautifully reflected the rich cultural heritage of India while showcasing the students’ creativity and design skills. With a focus on preserving and honoring the cultural significance of these garments, the fashion show was a vibrant display of colors, patterns, and textures, offering a unique fusion of history and modernity. The event aimed to raise awareness about cultural diversity and the importance of preserving traditional fashion in today’s globalized world. The Cultural Elegance show not only celebrated the beauty of cultural attire but also highlighted the craftsmanship and artistry that continue to shape the world of fashion.
The show was organized under the guidance of Ms. Megha Gohil, Head of the Fashion Designing Department, with the coordination of Ms. Shagun Rao, Assistant Professor, and support from Teaching Assistants Ms. Priya Ranoliya, Ms. Ankita Purohit, Ms. Shubhi Sharma, and Ms. Hetal Jethwa. With the encouragement and support of Vanita Vishram Management- Honorable President VVWU Shree Dipak N. Khambhati, Honorable Chairman Vanita Vishram, Surat & President, BoM- VVWU, Shree Kriplani T. Desai, Honourable Vice Chairman, Vanita Vishram Surat & Vice-President, BoM-VVWU Shree Pravin T. Vora and Secretary, Vanita Vishram, Surat Shree Manhar C. Desai Sir, Honourable Provost, VVWU Dr. Daxesh Thakar, and Dr. Vinita Mod, Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Riwayat 2.0 highlighted the fusion of tradition and modernity, bringing Indian culture to life through innovative fashion.
